Papa's Place Review

My family likes to go out to breakfast on the weekends. One place we enjoy going to is Papa's Place. It is just outside the North Atlanta Outlet Shopping Center.

About Papa's Place:
Papa's Place is a family restaurant which opened its doors 4 years ago by Dawn Powell and her daughter Kaitlin Lyerly in honor of Dawn's father, Frank Lippolis, who loved people and food. Family was a big part of Frank's life. Dawn and Kaitlin tailored their restaurant to give customers a family feeling of sitting around the table over a home-cooked meal.

3651 Dawson Forest Road,
Dawsonville, GA 30534-6959, US

One thing I really like about Papa's Place is you get a lot of food for your money. I have been here twice. Both times I have left very full and satisfied.

Food: House Hungry Breakfast (3 eggs cooked to order, Applewood bacon or sausage links, your choice of country potato, tater tots or corned beef hash, homemade biscuit with gravy or sausage gravy, and grits)

Egg Score: 8 out of 10
Bacon Score: 8.5 out of 10
Corned Beef Hash Score: 7.5 out of 10
Biscuit with sausage gravy Score: 8 out of 10
Grits Score: 8.5 out of 10
Comments: In the picture above, three out of four plates represented were from my order. The eggs are delicious and were just normal scrambled eggs. The bacon was perfectly crisp without the tasting like it was burnt (which it was not burned). The corned beef hash was good, but I wish there was more there to eat. The biscuit itself was nice and soft, flaky, and paired well with the sausage gravy. The gravy itself was amazing and could probably sit there all day dipping everything possible into it. Grits are always hard for me to judge. Being from New York, we didn't grow up on grits or really knew what they were until we went to almost any other state but mostly in the south. In comparing it to other places I have been to with grits, Papa's Place has been the only one where I tasted it and strongly considered eating more.

Cleanliness Score: 9 out of 10
Family Friendly Score: 10 out of 10
Comments: I definitely get a family vibe from Papa's Place. In the waiting area, they have books for kids to read to keep them occupied. The staff is accommodating to guests with children and understanding of any messes that were made.
Service Score: 8.5 out of 10
Comments: This is based on the two visits we made. The first time was incredible service and probably would rank it a perfect 10. The woman who waited on us was very nice, sweet, genuine, and interacted well with our son. The second time we visited, the woman was nice, but seemed to be in a rush. She started collecting the plates from my wife who wasn't done with her food where I had to tell the waitress she's not done eating yet (Most of the food was on the plate still and had barely been touched).

Overall Score:8.5
Comments: I enjoy coming to Papa's Place and will continue to do so in the future. You get a lot of food for your money, it is a nice family atmosphere, and the staff is amazing (other than the one incident we had).
