El Jinete Phone: 706-531-0012 Address: 100 North 400 Center Lane, Dawsonville, GA 30534 http://eljinetemexicanrestaurant.com/about-us/ I know this one doesn't exactly fall into one of the three main categories for this blog, but tacos are still considered food and I love them. We decided to venture out for some good Mexican food in our area. We chose El Jinete due to its location (being right off of 400), the price and the numerous options they had available on their menu. Again, I apologize for the lack of food pics as my son once again hijacked my phone. About El Jinete They are a family-friendly restaurant in business for more than a decade in the Georgia area (Dawsonville, Woodstock, Jefferson, Snellville, Clarksville, Roswell, and Dacula)/ They maintain the belief of creating a restaurant that's friendly and exceptional in attention to every detail. Drink: Coke I'm not going to score this one. You can't screw this one up unless the line nee

What's for Dinner?

Image
What's for dinner? As I stated in my original post, I love to cook and to barbecue. Last night, my wife and I tag teamed dinner. We decided to do a marinated steak on the grill with homemade Chimichurri sauce and french fries. First on the agenda was to get the meat prepped. We took a large skirt steak from the package, rinsed it off and patted it dry. I used a knife to make score marks into the meat so the marinade can really get in there. Next up was making a marinade for the steak. It was done from scratch and I am like a mad scientist with my sauces. 1/2 cup of vegetable oil 3/4 cup of ketchup 1 cup of Worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup of mustard 2 scallions 1 squeezed lime 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar salt and pepper to taste I let the steak marinate for about 5 hours. My grill can accommodate propane and charcoal to cook with, but I prefer to use charcoal. I feel it gives a better flavor to the meat. Scoring the meat also helped to

The Loyal Q and Brew

Image
https://www.loyalq.com/ My wife and I moved down to Georgia with our almost 3-year-old at the beginning of the month. Dining with a toddler is not really fun, but we've learned to make the most of it. We visited the Alpharetta area earlier this year. I was amazed at how gorgeous the town is and they are continuing to build it up. We enjoy spending time there and plan on checking out a lot of the dining options since moving to the Georgia area. The Loyal Q and Brew was the first restaurant we stopped at since officially making the move. It was a great family outing with my sister, my brother-in-law, and my two nieces. I had been wanting some good barbecue and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into my meal. The recommendation came from my brother-in-law who had passed the restaurant numerous times and visited it for lunch a few days prior. I would have to admit, this was a great place to eat. The Loyal Q and Brew use smokers to cook all of their meat. Each one (named Har

Welcome

Welcome to the first post for Bourbon, Burgers, and Barbecue. Yeah, I know what you're saying; Oh hell, it's another food blog. Well here, I am not just going to write about the places I visit and critique whatever meal I decide to order. I want to showcase the establishments I try out, recommend restaurants I would want to go back and order from again, and advise on any places you should stay away from. On top of going out to eat, I will also provide recipe's I have created and share my own fun cooking, mixing, and barbecuing. So who am I and why the should you care about my opinion? For starters, I am an author who writes murder mystery and romantic suspense books. Now, I know that doesn't give me any credit into the culinary world, but as a writer, we look for things to write about. Details are our forte, and I'm a guy who loves to eat. Being a writer, I also attend several book signings a year, which means you get to come along for the ride as I explo
