The Loyal Q and Brew

My wife and I moved down to Georgia with our almost 3-year-old at the beginning of the month. Dining with a toddler is not really fun, but we've learned to make the most of it. We visited the Alpharetta area earlier this year. I was amazed at how gorgeous the town is and they are continuing to build it up. We enjoy spending time there and plan on checking out a lot of the dining options since moving to the Georgia area.

The Loyal Q and Brew was the first restaurant we stopped at since officially making the move. It was a great family outing with my sister, my brother-in-law, and my two nieces. I had been wanting some good barbecue and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into my meal.

The recommendation came from my brother-in-law who had passed the restaurant numerous times and visited it for lunch a few days prior. I would have to admit, this was a great place to eat.

The Loyal Q and Brew use smokers to cook all of their meat. Each one (named Harry, Lloyd, Doug, and Steve) was handmade in Texas and uses wood for the only source of heat. There is no coal or gas used when smoking their meat.

I will start the review of dinner in stating I was unable to get pictures of the food or drink as my phone was confiscated by my son.

Drink: Bourbon Peach Sour
Coopers' Craft Bourbon, Peach Puree and Lemon Juice
Score: 8 out of 10
Comments: For a pure Bourbon enthusiast, this probably wouldn't be the way you would order your drink. Most prefer it neat, on the rocks, or in a Coke. I am a big fan of experiencing Bourbon in different ways. With my disclaimer out of the way, I can proceed with the review.
Comments: The Bourbon itself was smooth and mixed well with the lemon juice and the peach puree. It was refreshing to have on a warm night outside in the month of June. The lemon did not make the drink too acidic and was not too sugary either. It was a great way to relax; however, it felt as if there was something missing from the drink, perhaps a piece of fruit on the side.

Food: The Loyal Q and fries
Chopped Brisket with mustard BBQ sauce, fried onion straws on a toasted bun.
Score: 8.5 out of 10
Comments: I will start by saying the sandwich was on point in terms of flavor. The mustard BBQ sauce complimented the meat and gave it a kick of spice to the sandwich without having the heat. The onion straws were very crispy and thin, which is great for someone who isn't a big fan of chunks of onions. The brisket definitely had a nice smokey flavor but wasn't overpowering. It was still juicy, not dry and was an overall amazing sandwich to eat. I will state, it was a little messy which I take into consideration when scoring the food.

Cleanliness of restaurant: 10 out of 10
Family Friendly: 7.5 out of 10 (it's a BBQ and Bar place)
Service: 7 out of 10 (The waitress was nice, but was hard to get their attention where it wasn't very busy).

Overall score: 8.2
Comments: I enjoyed my time at the Loyal Q and Brew. The food was delicious. It was a relaxing night out with my family and a place to go if you are looking to get some drinks with friends. I loved the outside seating accommodations since it was a warm night with a very light breeze. It is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Alpharetta or Forsyth County areas to grab some good barbecue. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu.
